REMUS KNOWLES, lives in the Peak District and has been climbing for over 20 years. Currently he is primarily a sport climber and boulderer, though he has also spent a lot of time trad climbing with some occasional longer routes in the European Alps. His climbing has taken him around much of Europe and occasionally further afield to the likes of Norway and South Africa. Remus founded the website climbing-history.org as a tool for collating information about all aspects of climbing and mountaineering history from around the world. He has a wide range of historical interests, though primarily focuses on the development of sport climbing and bouldering from the 1970s onwards.
