Visit Everest Revisited, the brand new exhibition in Rheged's Gallery, near Penrith and experience the most significant mountain-focused exhibition since the National Mountaineering Exhibition at Rheged nearly 20 years ago.
Explore rarely-seen artefacts from the Alpine Club, the Mountain Heritage Trust, and the Royal Geographical Society, historic photographs from the Wakefield family archives, original artworks by Somervell and William Heaton Cooper and a range of contemporary artworks, sculptures and photography by UK and Nepalese artists, available to buy in support of charities based both in Nepal and the UK.
In this inspiring exhibition, you'll delve into the stories of Everest climbers, from pioneering adventurers to today's record-setters, and uncover an array of Cumbrian connections, as well as reflect on thought-provoking themes of mountain waste, tourism, spirituality and motivation.
You will also have the chance to hear from a line-up of guests speakers including Stephen Venables, Julie Summers and Krish Thapa in Rheged's Cinema, with an inspiring programme of Everest talks, films, and Q&A's running alongside the exhibition. Available to book at Rheged.com.
