Journals and magazines were once the lifeblood of the community, every major club and organisation had one. Early journals such as the Alpine Journal were fundamental to both recording the proceedings of a club and maintaining up to date on what was being climbed.

Our collection of magazines and journals is extensive and comprehensive, stretching not just across major UK publications such as Mountain, Climber and Rambler, On The Edge, Climber and The Great Outdoors, but also to foreign publications Mountain Gazette, La Montagne, Bergsteiger and Les Alpes. We also hold journals for many of the major climbing and mountaineering clubs, including a full set of Alpine Journals and FRCC Journals. Other club journals include the Rucksack Club, Yorkshire Ramblers Club, Pinnacle Club and Climbers Club.

Work is currently on-going to store, catalogue and index the collection and we're always looking for issues which we may not hold.
