Collections

We specialise in cataloguing and archiving all forms of mountaineering and climbing heritage. Papers, equipment, slides and journals are all currently housed in the archive and we're looking for more.

Get in touch

Your journeys, your epics, and your closest partnerships matter: we need your help to preserve them. Since the National Mountaineering Exhibition and early support from Heritage Lottery Fund, the Mountain Heritage Trust has identified many sources of mountain heritage and added substantially to its collections. We're continuing to grow, and are always interested to learn of unique and interesting items which might contribute to our collections relating to British mountaineering and climbing history.

Because of our limited archive space we don't accept unsolicited donations. If you have an item or collection that you think might be of interest then please get in touch via the contact form or call us first. Please gives us as much detail as you can about the items and their background.

If you are unsure about anything or have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. We are always happy to help and if your collection doesn't fit at the Mountain Heritage Trust we can help you find a good home for it.

For more details about the type of material we collect please contact us - our Collections Development Policy is currently undergoing a review.
